Even if you already have a list of article ideas that you want to write in the future, sometimes, sticking to the same type of blog post can become mundane and boring to write.
So you can imagine how boring it might be for your readers too, to see the same type of blog posts published on your blog.
Which is why you have to diversify your content, my friend.
Your blog is a platform that can stage any type of content if you put your mind to it.
You can embed videos, images, infographics, podcasts, you name it.
OK, so below you’ll find a convenient list of types of blog posts to create for your blog. Pick one or two and go create something truly magical for your readers.

#1. Strategy/Case study articles
Case study articles can be very powerful because when crafted with care, they can provide an immense amount of value to the reader.
A well-written and well researched case study has all the information, insights, statistics, resources readers need to learn anything and possibly everything about a given specific topic or subject.
Some classic examples of successful blogs that create high-value case studies include NeilPatel.com and MatthewWoodWard.com.
#2. Data-Driven posts
Data-driven articles are blog posts that contain a list of tips or methods for achieving a desired result.
This list is backed by useful and relevant data and statistics.

#3. Personal point-of-view posts
I love writing posts that provide something useful and valuable based on my own personal experiences, knowledge, and conclusions.
At the end of the day, that is what blogging was originally intended for.
Most people visit blogs and read articles to get the authors point of views or perspectives on a topic.
If there’s something on your mind that you want to share your opinions about or discuss with your readers, consider writing a ‘personal point of view’ post.
Maybe there’s a hot topic with points that you don’t agree with, or, maybe you want to clarify something that’s been talked about elsewhere on another blog.
It’s entirely up to you, but these types of blog posts can attract a lot of attention, social shares, and comments.
#4. ‘How To’ Tutorial Posts
I think this is by far everybody’s favorite type of blog post to create, and one of the great things about creating ‘How to’ tutorial posts is that it’s almost impossible to run out of post ideas for it.
You can write a ‘how to…’ post on pretty much anything in your niche or industry these days.
It’s easy to assume that everyone knows how to do something, whatever that something is, even at a basic level.
But just remember that not everyone is an expert, so make sure that you write as many how to posts for your blog as possible. If you believe a how to post idea might help someone, even if it’s just one person, then write about it.

#6. Video posts
With videos, you can choose to create ‘screen casts’, such as online tutorials and walkthroughs, or even talking head videos if you’re confident enough.
I love putting myself in front of my audience using video content. It’s something that I hated doing when I first started, but now I’m creating a new video each week.

Infographics are great attention grabbers.
When done correctly, using infographics can help you boost blog traffic, social shares, and engagement on every level imaginable.
They can also gain you some valuable backlinks too.
You can either outsource someone to create an infographic for your blog, or create one yourself.
You can also find bloggers that will re-publish and re-share your infographics. A combination of using all three strategies can be very useful for your audience.
#8. List type posts
Now, everybody loves checking out a good old-fashioned list post now and again, right?
List posts are so easy to create, simple to read or scan over and can provide a lot of usefulness ‘quick-tips’ to your readers.
The bigger the number in a list post the better, that’s what I’ve found from publishing many list posts on Magnet4Blogging over the years.

#9. Cornerstone content, or Massive Value Posts (MVP’s)
These types of blog posts have huge potential.
They’re also huge in size because they’re not your average 800-word blog posts. Try 2,000+, and, they require a lot of time and effort to create.
Again, like case study articles, MVPs can provide an incredible amount of value, education, and resource for your readers.
Cornerstone posts or MVP’s are made up using all kinds of content from various mediums, i.e. text form, video, visual content, graphs and charts, presentations in PDF form, screen-captures, and more.

#10. Resource Posts
A resource post can be a list of useful links to other blog articles on a specific topic. It can also be a list of links to various online productivity tools and so on.
A great way to create a valuable resource post is to find a subject related to your niche, and then find all the best articles ever written on that subject.
You can use a tool like Ninja Outreach to help you find authority articles.
Additionally, you can add some of your own content to create even more value, then hit publish.
#11. Guest Posts
A lot of blogs accept guest posts these days, it’s the normal thing to do when you have a reasonably well-established blog and audience, right?
Accepting well-written, well-researched, useful guest posts on your blog can provide your readers with fresh perspectives and new ideas while freeing up your time to do other things with your blog.
You can either create a guest post information page, or personally invite influential people to come and write on your blog, or you can hire a freelance writer to come and write for you (Outsourcing).
#12. Question and answers posts
These are wonderful posts to create for your readers.
First, you have to learn to listen to your audience. Ask them questions and post surveys.
Find out what they really want to know, and then create a question and answer post.
You can create a Q&A post on a specific topic or a variety of topics together.

#13. Storytelling posts
Everybody loves to read an inspirational post that ends up affecting them in some small way.
Whether you’re offering motivational tips, time management tips, or sharing a moving story, motivational posts can be great little traffic and comment pullers by themselves.
People can relate to good old storytelling, especially if it’s aligned with your blog, and vibes well with them too.
Writing a motivational post also demonstrates to your audience that you actually care about them, and respect their feelings, goals, and ambitions.
It can also help to humanize your blog because, at the end of the day, it’s not just all about writing marketing jargon and tutorial posts.

#14. Blog Series
Blog Series posts, as you’ve probably guessed, are blog posts broken down into a series.
One of the many advantages of creating a blog series is that you can really break down a topic and go into it in greater detail.
In addition, if you have a series that run with 10 or 12 posts, you can easily spread them out in your editorial calendar and publish one or two posts per week.
This is great because it means you don’t need to worry about what post to write about next, for a while at least.
#15. Blog Contests
If you’re looking for the ultimate way to get people flocking to your blog, host a blog contest.
Not only can you benefit from increased traffic, a ton of social shares, and comments, but blog contests are great for bringing folks together in your community and reinforcing your relationships with your readers, subscribers, etc.

#17. Progress and income report posts
I used to love writing progress reports for my blog. For me, it was a great way to show transparency in my online business.
A progress report is a post where you simply write and share everything that you’ve been doing to achieve something specific with your blog or online business.
Here are some classic examples of the kind of progress reports you could create for your blog:
- Monthly income reports – Share what you’ve been doing to generate income from your blog or an affiliate program each month.
- Monthly traffic reports – Share what you’ve been doing to increase blog traffic each month. You could even combine income reports with your traffic reports.
- Strategy reports – Share what you’ve been doing to make a particular online marketing strategy work for your online business growth, or for reaching your goals.

Finally, if you haven’t thought about interviewing some influential people or bloggers in your niche to publish on your blog, it’s never too late to make a start.

Even better if you can create a podcast interview or even a video interview.
