3 Simple But Powerful Copywriting Tips You Can't Ignore #Shortpost

Last Updated On

Here are 3 quick and simple copywriting tips to help you drastically improve your web copy. Ignore them at your own risk.

  1. Write powerful headlines that provoke interest and curiosity, but don’t mislead, ever.
  2. Use shorter sentences, much shorter.
  3. Tell a story that resonates with your audience.

Let’s take a closer look, shall we?

Your headline

The headline of your copy is truly the base of it all. It's the first thing people will see before anything, so you need to make it good.

No, let me rephrase that, you need to make it better than good!

So good in fact that it will get people fumbling over their mouse to click on it quickly so they can read your content.

Check out this post for tips and tools for writing powerful and compelling headlines.

Your sentences

I see so many bloggers and copywriters making this silly beginner's mistake.

Your sentences really don’t need to be the length of a football pitch.

They don’t need to be 3 or 4 lines of text even, in fact, they only need to be 1 or 2 lines.

Look at this post, you'll see I'm not using many words in my sentences.

It's much easier to read, right?

People have become lazy, especially when it comes to 'reading' content on the web.

They don’t want to see off-putting HUGE chunks of texts.

They simply don’t have the time or the energy to try and focus on which line they’re on when reading your content.

They simply want to see a few lines that they can scan over quickly.

Your story

Yes, yours truly!

Don’t be afraid to share your story.

People love to read a great story they can relate to and get inspired by.

Just make sure you align your story telling with your marketing message, or just make it relevant to the topic you’re writing about.

There you go, that’s it!

Now go and implement these 3 simple tips, and you’ll have instantly improved your copywriting skills in no time.

I'll have more short quick tips posts like this for you in the future.

  1. Hey Fabrizio,

    Great tips here!

One thing that I have changed this year is going from writing long sentences to shorter ones which has been a positive change for me.

Yes a lot of people have become "lazier" when it comes to reading online. We want shorter sentences and more images.

Also telling your story is a great way to really grab your audience's attention. Like you said, it gives them something they can relate to and a reason to keep coming back for more of your content.

Great share Fabrizio! Have a great week ahead!

    1. Hey Sherman, thanks for dropping by and I'm glad you enjoyed the short post.

I still see this silly mistake being made even by the most reputable blogs. Huge blocks of texts that instantly turn people off from reading.

Like you I love writing short sentences. It makes it a hell of a lot easier as well to edit a post after you've written it as well.

Have a great week ahead too mate.
