6 Best Personal Branding Books You Need To Read In 2020!

Last Updated on April 9, 2020 by Fabrizio Van Marciano

Building a personal brand business is something a lot of people are starting to do, and especially now with the way things are. We're all living in a time of uncertainty with regard to pay cuts and even job losses. And that's just the start of it all.

When it comes to personal branding, there's nothing more rewarding and empowering than promoting and selling the business of YOU.

Yes, that's right, the business of you. There's no doubt in my mind, I know you have something valuable to share with the world at large. I truly believe that, even if I haven't got a clue about who you are and what your passions and skills are.

How do I know this?

Because I know who I am and what I'm good at and what I suck at. So, I figured there are probably so many souls like me out there.

Here's a true story:

I sucked at school, and I sucked at every subject in school. It didn't help that I hated school with a passion.

One day, my English teacher called me out in front of the class. She said out loud -

"Fabz, why is it that everything we try to teach you, you suck at? There's nothing you're good at!"

I was young and it probably went through one ear and out the other, because I couldn't give a f**k. I started giving a f**k when I was in my early 20's. That's around the time I started thinking about my passions and skills, and how I could turn it into a business.

So, I know you have something valuable to share with the world. I know you have a brand in you screaming to break out.

As I have already mentioned, with the current state of the economy, and with the way things are with COVID-19, job losses, etc. No one is safe.

Sure, you might feel stable for now in the knowledge that your job or career is safe, but you'll always be looking over your shoulders, wondering, could everything change someday?

It's not a question of could it happen, it's a question of when will it happen.

Building a future proof business

Who wants to live a life always worried about the safety of their job and future?

No one does, is the answer.

I know this because 16 years ago, I made the beautiful decision to screw my soul-crushing 9 to 5 office job to focus on my personal brand business. It wasn't easy, in fact, it was one of the hardest decisions I had to make. But looking back, I'm darn well glad I did it.

That said, I don't want you to wait for the perfect time to come. Look at the way things are right now, the right time is now.

Plus, asides from what's going on around the world, why I also think that building a personal brand business is crucial now is because we have all the tools and the technology we need at our disposal, so why wait?

Personal brand building books to read

When it comes to literature, specifically speaking, books, there are so many of them on the topic of personal branding. So many lovely folks are sharing their experiences, journeys, tips, strategies, success, and failures on how to build a rock-solid brand, so you're in good hands.

Now, whether you're just starting out with your personal brand business project, or already working on something and want to make better progress, I want to share some book titles with you that will get you geared up for building the best personal brand venture that you can.

Let's check them out, in no particular order.

Book One: Rise Of The YouPreneur by Chris Ducker

Probably the most complete personal brand building book you'll ever read. This book will save you time as well as your sanity.

The author, Chris Ducker, is no stranger to personal branding. Based on his own success, his knowledge, and insights, Chris will guide you through every step.

From weighing out your strengths and weaknesses to building and marketing a website to promoting and selling the value you have to offer. This book covers everything you need to get started the smart way.

Book Two: The Miracle Morning For Entrepreneurs

The Miracle Morning has transformed my life and changed my daily habits. This is one book I am eternally grateful for, especially now more than ever where staying at home is becoming the norm.

If you are looking for a book to inspire you and to motivate you to get up and go, no author does it better than Hal Elrod. This book has helped me become more focused, motivated, and productive in my business and in my personal life too.

Book Three: Reinventing You

Building a successful personal brand business begins with taking a long, hard look at yourself. And then going off to read this book.

Reinventing You, by Dorie Clark, will help you define your strengths, realize your abilities and build a standout personal brand that people will love! This book will make you realize your true potential.

Book Four: A Winning Brand

An inspiring guide from an author who loves to share practical tips, strategies, as well as success stories that you can relate with to help you build a stand out personal brand.

Kraig Kleeman has to be one of my favorite personal brand ambassadors. I love his story and his unique perspective on what makes a human being stand out in the world of personal branding.

Book Five: Career Kred

An insightful book on building up your career profile in the digital world. If the web and technology are leaving you feeling rather overwhelmed, this is the book to get your hands on to help you make sense of it all.

Book Six: Designing Your Life

Last but not least, is Designing Your Life, authored by Bill Burnett and Dave Evans. This book is for anyone between the age of let's say 16 to 100. Regardless of age, you can design a rewarding career and an amazing life using your skills and passions.

Whether you're an artist, designer, author, consultant, planner, life coach, this book will show you how to take that skill and passion and turn it into thriving career, step-by-step.

With the way things are right now, reading this book makes more sense than ever.

My all-time favorite personal brand building book

I've read a few very good books in my time, most of them being self-help, practical guides, and motivational books. But, for me, it has to be The Rise Of The Youpreneur, by Chris Ducker that makes the top of my list.

Why?

It's the most complete book I can think of on the subject of personal brand building, and it's the one I recommend to all my followers, fans, friends, and family.

This book would have probably saved me a ton of time and heartache had it been published around 10 years ago when I started my personal brand journey as an artist and designer. But, I'm grateful that it exists even now, as I often go back to it.

Chris Ducker, himself, is a successful entrepreneur and has plenty of validation to go by. This book is not the usual nonsense, it's filled with practical tips, ideas, complete processes, combined with Chris's inspiring storytelling of struggles and success.

I honestly thought I knew a lot about personal branding. I thought I had covered most of the things I needed to do to be successful myself. That was until I read this book and realized how much I left out.

So, if you're starting from complete scratch, or even if you've had your personal brand business for some time and need to reignite your inner fire, this book is the one to read.

It's inspirational, motivational, empathetic, and best of all it's educational. Again, you can find this book here on Amazon.

    1. Hey Ahmad,

Thanks for your comment bro, if you get the chance to read it, do it! I took it on holiday with me to read and it really motivated me to make improvements in my personal band business. As for blog comments, I do leave them on certain blog posts, but not all of them.
