Before now, doing effective A/B split testing for your landing pages in WordPress was somewhat of a challenge. Just a few plugins were in existence, and most of them not that great either.
Thrive Optimize is a plugin that makes it very easy to set up and test any type of landing page visitor/conversion goal.
You simply create your landing page using the Thrive Architect plugin, make a second copy of that landing page and add some variations, create and customize your test using Thrive Optimize, set your conversion goal and you’re all set to start collecting data.
Thrive Optimize lets you –
- Duplicate and test unlimited landing pages.
- Adjust the amount of traffic to each landing page variation.
- Set a goal type.
- Set automatic winner.
- Analyze your conversion reports and more.
All of this can be done in your WP dashboard and without ever leaving your site.
Now, while Thrive Optimize is a powerful option, it is not a stand-alone plugin. It is, in fact, an add-on plugin for the Thrive Architect landing page builder.
What does this mean?
It means that if you are not using Thrive Architect for building your landing pages, you cannot use Thrive Optimize to do A/B split testing.
In any case, Thrive Architect and Optimize is the perfect combination and makes for a very powerful and complete landing page and A/B split testing package.
Is this a cost-effective solution?
Thrive Optimize is an affordable solution for WordPress websites. The plugin costs $67 to use on a single website, however, if you don’t have Thrive Architect, you will have to purchase the Thrive Architect and Thrive Optimize bundle at $127.
Those prices give you 12 months of updates and support.
The Nelio A/B Testing tool is a powerful subscription-based solution for WordPress websites.
The plugin does boast some nifty features including stunning heat maps, click maps, widget testing, and conversion actions.
Nelio A/B testing can be used to test alternative names, featured images, and descriptions for your product pages, and much more.
Is this a cost-effective solution?
The plugin is not the most affordable solution for WordPress users, especially when you compare it with something like Thrive Optimize.
You can trial Nelio for up to 1,000 page views, then the most basic subscription plan will set you back $288 per year, or $29 per month to use on 1 site.
Next on our list is the Marketing Optimizer plugin, which doesn’t seem to have very many users at the moment, however, it does look somewhat promising.
Features include –
- CTA templates and testing.
- Automatic page tracking.
- Test landing pages and standard WordPress pages.
- Popup and overlay templates and testing suite, and more.
A plus point with Marketing Optimizer is that it comes with some cool templates for you to use, saving you time and resources having to create your own.
That being said, the templates look somewhat dated and editing or making changes to them, using the default WP editor, can be a challenge, and, is nowhere near as intuitive as other drag-and-drop landing page tools available.
Is this a cost-effective solution?
Yes, the plugin is a complete stand-alone WordPress tool and is 100% free. To make the most of this plugin, however, you’ll probably need to take out one of the plans from Marketing Optimizer, and then authenticate/integrate it with the plugin.

Whilst it’s not the cheapest of options, you do get access to a lot more than just A/B split testing tools with Unbounce.
