Hi there! I’m Fabrizio Van Marciano and a warm welcome to Magnet4Blogging Media.
We are a small web design, blogging, and creative digital marketing company based in beautiful North Devon, England.
So let me start off by telling you my story, before talking about this website and the company I built. I hope you’ll find it somewhat inspiring.
I’m a 39-year-old professional blogger, freelance web designer, WordPress developer and digital marketer.
I’m also a devoted and loving husband and a father of two amazing children.
I’m the proud founder of Magnet4Blogging Media.
I’ve been doing business online for quite some time now.
Interestingly enough actually, October (2016) marked the 10th year anniversary of when I started my first business venture on the internet.
It all started back in 2004 when I decided to turn my passion for painting into a business.
I had no idea where to start. I simply built a mediocre looking website using a drag-and-drop website builder tool and began selling my artwork online.
The internet was a completely different landscape back then I can tell you.
Within a few years of starting my art business venture, I was creating and selling my original paintings to collectors from all over the world, all using the internet.
By 2006 I was able to quit my “mundane” job as a sales executive, to focus on my online art business full-time.
I didn’t know this at the time, but that was a new turning point in my life. I haven’t been back to work another 9-to-5 job since.
Building an online art business
Business was booming, and with the help of my website and various other eCommerce platforms I was using, such as eBay and Etsy, I was able to sell enough of my paintings and promote my business worldwide to make a reasonably comfortable living from it.
Internet business was really opening up my eyes to the possibilities, even back then.
At the time I was also living with my mum, so I didn’t really have many commitments as such.
Then came the recession in 2008 and things started going downhill fast.
Business was slowing down, and to top it all off, things in my personal life were also taking a bit of a nose dive.
During the same year, I also met my girlfriend Samantha. Samantha and I got married in the summer of 2016.
When 2009 finally came around, I wasn’t selling very many paintings at all. In fact, business was so bad I had to consider other options.
I decided that I was going to have to start a new online business venture. It was either that or go back to work the dreaded 9-to-5.
Since I have a problem with conformity and being told what to do, I decided to start another online business.
My first blogging business venture is born
I started playing around with website building tools a little bit more.
I then discovered WordPress in early 2010, another pinnacle turning point in my online career I would say.
In the summer of 2010, I started my first blogging business venture Magnet4Marketing.
Within a few years of launching Magnet4Marketing, I had managed to build a thriving little blog community.
Don’t get me wrong, the first few years was a steep learning curve. But I was passionate and driven about this new venture.
My interest in WordPress development, web design, and creative branding also grew stronger.
I was learning many new things, including how to write code and how to use various website development tools, graphic design applications and so forth.
Things were going reasonably well, and I was making some decent income with my blog.
The income came mainly from private ad sales, and monetizing with Google AdSense and promoting Amazon affiliate products.
Just when I thought things were going really well, another spanner was about to be thrown in the works.
Google Panda… Then Penguin
When Google Panda and then Google Penguin was introduced in 2012, my website was impacted almost immediately.
My rankings and traffic tanked, income tanked and it felt like I was back where I started 3 years ago.
I didn’t give up however, I spent 2 years trying to fix the site but to no avail.
Failure the second time around?
It certainly felt like that.
In January 2014 I decided to take Magnet4Marketing offline, and just put it down to a bad experience.
I knew that there were some unknown risks in online business, and this was just one of them I guess.
You can learn more about how Google killed my first blogging business here in this detailed post.
My second blogging, web design and digital marketing business venture is born
So I failed twice at running my own home based internet business, however, I wasn’t going to accept defeat that easily.
I don’t consider myself to be an expert at anything, in fact, I hate using the word “expert”.
What I do consider myself to be however is very experienced and knowledgeable in my field.
I am also very passionate about what I do as a professional blogger, web developer, and solopreneur.
I started Magnet4Blogging Media in December of 2013, and this time with a completely different mindset.
A more “business focused” mindset.
I began building the new site very quickly, focusing on creating a lot more problem-solving content for a very specific type of audience.
These were still broad topics, however, in comparison to what I was blogging about before, this was very narrow.
I made progress very quickly, and since I wasn’t starting as a complete newbie or novice, I was aware of the mistakes and pitfalls I had to avoid.
Starting over was one of the best business decisions I have ever made.
