This one is a little bit of a late report to be putting out I know peeps, but I’ve been unbelievably busy since the last blog income report I published.
In addition to that, I’ve been feeling pretty unwell for most of October and the early part of November as well, so I haven’t really felt that inspired to write or to do much blogging.
I paid a quick visit to the doctor a few weeks ago actually, and he suggested that I didn’t spend any more than 2 hours each day at the computer. He also suggested I get some early nights.
I think he was hinting that I was burning myself out.
Anyway, other than the lack of sleep and that I spend too much time staring at the screen, I’m a reasonably fit and healthy person.
I do make the time to run a few times per week and try and get to the gym twice per week. My diet isn’t that bad either, I cut out most junk.
Admittedly I have been working until quite late in the morning most evenings, especially in the last 4 months.
The thing is once my kids are in bed, which is usually around 7pm, I’m then locked in for the night until 2 or 3 in the morning working online.
Now that might sound like utter dedication to some peeps, but in all honesty it’s not really a good thing to do.
I need my sleep to stay focused, and next year will be better when I have a bit more time to structure my work around my kids school time. Currently they’re just part time at nursery until March time.
OK so I’m publishing my third ever blog progress, income, traffic, transparency report. What ever you want to call it.
If you’ve been reading my blog for any length of time, you might remember I published a yearly and first quarter report back in April. Then I published a second quarterly report back in July. You can find those reports here:
Why Do I Publish These Quarterly Reports?
I love being transparent about what I’m doing with my blog.
I’m not out to try and impress anyone because my reports aren’t exactly that impressive to start with.
I share these reports to show what I’ve been doing to grow my blogging business, so that YOU my readers and subscribers can see what’s been working and what hasn’t been working for me.
For anyone new reading these reports, they can see and appreciate what it really takes to build a blogging business.
I also hope that my reports inspires some of you who perhaps want to take the plunge and start a blog or an online business from home.
If you do by the way, check out this page I created just for you called start here!
What’s Been Happening?
Lots of things have been happening with my blog and generally blogging wise.
One of the things I did was of course to bring back blog comments very recently, in fact during the 4th quarter.
I made the decision to remove comments back at the end of August, which was of course a HUGE mistake.
It just didn’t feel right writing all this content to have no one talking about it.
I couldn’t tell whether any of it was having any impact or what. I missed reading about others thoughts and opinions, I had literally turned my blog into a ghost town.
So anyway, in this post I explain some other reasons why I had to bring back comments.
Right, let’s crack on with this.
Third Quarter Blog Stats
Here’s a quick summary of the blog traffic stats, rankings, social proof and more, in comparison to the previous three months.
Total sessions: 10,333 (Previous 8,567)
Total page views: 17,152 (Previous 14,004)
Alexa ranking: 220k (Previous 263k)
Page rank: Who cares?
Facebook fans: 17 (Previous 9,200)
Twitter followers: 13.1k (Previous 13k)
Google+: 3.5k (Previous 3.4k)
Feedly RSS: 61 (Previous 34)
Email subscribers: 494 (Previous 446)
Total number of published posts: 18 (Previous 19)
Sessions and page views has certainly increased in the 3rd quarter, yet increasing traffic has never been my priority, I know I keep saying this, but boosting conversions is what I really care about, and I’ll share some information on this in just a moment.
What you’re probably scratching your head wondering about is the Facebook fans deadly decline from 9k to just 17.
It’s not a decline, I simply decided to start over with Facebook. The old page simply wasn’t working, I had failed with it and it’s getting deleted soon.
I will be writing a detailed post about this in the very near future, or I might record a podcast show, I’ve not yet decided.
I am generally pleased with the statistics over all though, it shows steady consistent growth I hope. And I know some areas is slow but it’s still moving forward nevertheless.
Email Conversion Report
Like I said earlier I’m obsessed with conversion optimisation.
I’d like to think that I’m pretty dedicated to building my email list, and I’m learning more about new techniques and strategies that I can use to help me grow my list quicker and more efficiently.
During the 2nd quarter of 2015 I saw a slight decline in the number of new subscribers. I decided to create a few more eBooks to add t0 my member’s library, and create groups of email lists targeting specific areas of interests.
Currently I give away three valuable eBooks to new subscribers instead of one, though by February of 2016 I hope that figure will be 6.
I’m also working on a brand new marketing cheat sheet for bloggers which will again be a free incentive added to the members area.
So far the valuable incentive strategy is working for me, and I’m currently doing a couple of A-B tests with screen filler opt-in forms and pop-up forms, again for a post that I’m putting together for the near future.
Here’s a screen shot of the 3rd quarter’s list growth.
Blog Income Report For The 3rd Quarter Of 2015
Ok peeps, the wait is finally over, here’s a break down of the income generated from my blog during the 3rd quarter of 2015.
This income report isn’t accurate to the penny just to be clear on that peeps.

GROSS TOTAL INCOME FOR 3RD QUARTER OF 2015: $2,216.34 (SECOND QUARTER: $1663.16)
OK so once again not a bad 3rd quarter I think. Most of the income generated during July, August and September came from serving several clients with website design projects and rebuilds.
Affiliate income is consistent, but down from the 2nd quarter by around $290. I’m still happy with this result considering I’ve not done much additional work to promote any of the the products I use.
Passive income wise I’m pretty positive that the last quarter of 2015 will be better, especially with Black Friday, Cyber Monday and the Christmas period coming up.
Now let’s take a look at what went out in the 3rd quarter of 2015.
SiteGround Web Hosting: $40.50
Social Warfare Plugin: $2.00 ($24 paid annually)
JustRetweet Social: $50
Facebook Ads: $10
SEO Tools & Online Services: $147.69
My Ecover Maker: $4.95
PayPal Fees: $67.50
TOTAL EXPENSES: $372.99 (EXPENSES FOR 2ND QUARTER: $413.66)
NET TOTAL: $1,843.35 ($1,249.50 IN FIRST QUARTER)
Net total revenue is up $593.85 from the 2nd quarter net total. I’m very happy with that, it’s certainly another small step in the right direction for my blogging business.
Expenses hasn’t been over the top, but consistent again around -$400 per quarter.
Some Proof Of Earnings
As I said earlier I like to be completely transparent about what I’m earning from blogging, so here’s a couple of screen shots for you to study.
I’ve not added every single piece of evidence here because that would be ludicrous, but enough to show some transparency of my earnings.
In addition to the PayPal screen shot showing income in the Dollar currency, living and working in the UK I do earn income in British Pound currency which I’ve not shown.
Blogging Goals Reached (Plus New Ones)
In the last progress report I set myself some new goals to reach. Did I reach any of them? Let’s take a look.
- Write and publish 20 blog posts for Magnet4Blogging (Managed 19)
- Reach 600 email subscribers (Reached 494, -106 off target)
- Record and publish 3 YouTube videos (Recorded 2)
- Publish 1 podcast (Failed)
- Create and publish 1 infographic (Failed)
- Revise “Smarter eBooks” ebook (Failed)
- Hit the $2,000 mark [$750 each month] (Reached)
Whilst I wasn’t able to complete a lot of these goals I set out, I was able to complete goals that I never aimed to reach, like revising other eBooks, and writing several new ones. I was also able to hit one other target: Reach the $2k mark.
I also only managed to reach 494 email subscribers as apposed to 600 I aimed for. -106 off my target, maybe I was being a little too optimistic with that one! What do you think?
Goals Set For 4th And Last Quarter Of 2015
Here are 7 goals I created for myself and my blog at the start of October 2015.
- Write and publish 20 blog posts for M4B
- Reach 600 email subscribers.
- Record 4 YouTube videos.
- Publish 2 podcasts.
- Create and publish 1 infographic.
- Launch 4th eBook to add to members library.
- Hit $2,500 mark.
